ONEin3 Gets Around East Boston AND Block Party This Week!

ONEin3 is busy this week. We feel like the most active socialites in Boston right now because we have plans both tonight AND tomorrow. We just feel really cool.

TONIGHT, ONEin3 Gets Around East Boston. We have a couple tickets left and we hope you’ll join us. The rain is going to let up this afternoon and should be no problem whatsoever. You really don’t want to miss Scup’s in the Harbour, 303 Cafe, Harbor Arts, Piers Park and other awesomeness. Come along and explore another of Boston’s great neighborhoods!

TOMORROW (Thursday), ONEin3 is taking over Downtown Crossing for a Block Party. Read more here, but suffice it to say, there will be beer, wine, free food and music. How can you miss? Just another chance to see Downtown Crossing in a brand new way!

We hope to see you in Eastie and Downtown Crossing!

ONEin3 Advisory Council Interviews – How We Want to Improve Boston!

We had our 3rd and final group interview with 15 excellent ONEin3ers this morning, all vying to be part of the ONEin3 Boston Mayor’s Advisory Council. It seems like every year at least one of the interview groups is significantly weaker than the other two, but not so this year. All three sessions were really solid, with interesting and thoughtful conversation about Boston.

Each of these interviews serves two important functions. Of course, they help us to select the Council, but they also function as echoes of the 19 focus groups that were the official beginning of the ONEin3 Boston initiative. Our selection committee loves doing these interviews because  they help us keep our focus on the most important issues that face young people in Boston.

The format of these conversations is pretty basic. We sit in one big group around a table and ask each participant to introduce him or herself. Each participants tell the group one thing that he or she likes about Boston and one thing that could be improved. Once we have all those goods and bads on the table, we move into an open discussion of a couple issues that emerge in their introductory comments.

(Read on for more on what we discussed and please head to the comments to tell us what you think!)

ONEin3 Gets Around East Boston!

For the latest in the ONEin3 Gets Around series, we head to East Boston on August 25th for an evening of food, drink, dessert and arts!

Join us at 6pm at Maverick and follow along for the finest Mexican food in the city, followed by 303 Cafe, dessert at Scup’s and the HarborArts Festival to cap it all off.

This promises to be an A+ way to explore a neighborhood that’s a little off the beaten path but well worth the trip.

Get your tickets ($29.50) here.

The Big Hammock

It drives us nuts here at ONEin3 HQ when people talk bad about the Rose Kennedy Greenway. We “activate” the Greenway all the time for lunch. And on our way to and from The Innovation District and many other places, we choose to walk along it because it’s beautiful and there’s always something new happening there.

The next new thing coming up? How bout The Big Hammock!

The Big Hammock is exactly what it sounds like – a big hammock for us to chill on and rock gently back and forth this summer. It’ll be near the intersection of Oliver Street from August 20th to September 4th and open to the public from Noon to 8pm every day. Go have a sit…take a nap if you want to!
