The Organ Gives Way to the Boston Landmarks Orchestra at Fenway Park – FREE

Something that’s surprised us here at ONEin3 HQ has been how much you all like classical music and opera. Maybe we shouldn’t be surprised. You’re a cultured crowd!

Something that doesn’t surprise is that you like free stuff. Well anyway, we have a combo of those two things PLUS Fenway Park. Sounds like a winning trifecta to us.

Boston Landmarks Orchestra FREE Performance Fenway Park, Wednesday July 7th, 7-9 p.m. Experience Fenway with an historic new line up: Beethoven, Copland, Bernstein, Anderson, and more.

Conductor Charles Ansbacher has selected an all-star repertoire from the classics to a fitting celebration of Jackie Robinson launching the Orchestra’s 2010 season with a grand slam. Highlights include Aaron Copland’s Fanfare for the Common Man, Beethoven’s Ode to Joy with the New World Chorale, Wachner’s The Jackie Robinson Story, and selections from Bernstein’s West Side Story.

Truly a Fenway first!

Tickets are free but required. No tickets available the day of performance. Downloaded at no cost from www.redsox.com/familyfun, or picked up at the Red Sox Main Ticket Office, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., through July 6, 2010.

Limit, four per person. Enter through Fenway Park Gate B. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. Food and drinks available for purchase.

Free Concerts Downtown? Yes Please

The Phoenix and Downtown Crossing are hosting some free concerts this week right in front of the Downtown Crossing T stop, which is awesome for two reasons:

1. It’s beautiful out and what better activity is there after work than listening to music outside with a drink in your hand? Hint: there is none.

AND

2. You get to see local bands in their element in the heart of the city FOR FREE!

This is all part of Best Music Week and we think it’s the bomb.

Tonight, starting at 5 come see John Shade, Kingsley Flood and Magic Magic.

Tomorrow, come see Mystery Roar, Bearstronaut and Mean Creek.

We’re sad to say that we missed yesterday’s show because our good friend and regular commenter Lindsay’s band Thick Shakes played. Oh well, we’ll have to find another time to see them.
